The Sun Gateway team provided excellent service, coordinating and guiding me through every step of the process, making what I thought would be complicated easy.
Q. Experience and adaptation in a foreign country
A. There was quite a bit of adaptation, especially regarding the weather in Dubai, which is very hot, and the food. I already had a basic understanding of English, but initially it was difficult with government agencies that still primarily used Arabic. However, now English is widely spoken everywhere.
Q. Starting point for choosing Sun Gateway’s services
A. Purpose of buying a house: I wanted to buy a house in Bangkok for myself and to prepare for my children’s future, as I’m planning to move my children back to Thailand for their education.
Information search: I searched on Google for information along the lines of, “What if I have no income in Thailand, but income from abroad, with my husband as the supporter?” “Where can I apply for a home loan?” That’s how I came across the Sun Gateway project in partnership with the Government Housing Bank (GHB).
Initial Concerns: I admit I wasn’t 100% confident at first, fearing it might be a scam. So I had a relative in Thailand inquire directly with GHB in my province. The bank confirmed it was a genuine project for Thais living abroad who find it inconvenient to return to Thailand for transactions, or those with income support from overseas. This gave me confidence, and I started using their service.
Q. Impressions of Sun Gateway’s Service
A. Feelings upon receiving approval I found out while in Dubai. Initially, I was quite worried and excited (nervous), because Thai banks usually don’t trust cases with overseas income as much as those with proof of employment in Thailand. But when the officer informed me that it was approved, I felt greatly relieved. When I checked the email notifying me of the approved loan amount, I was very satisfied because I received almost 100% of the amount I requested.
Impressions of the Team I was impressed by all the staff in the Group Line who coordinated and forwarded cases systematically. They provided excellent advice regarding the required documents. The assistance and guidance on how to write and prepare the documents greatly eased my anxiety.
My feelings upon seeing the actual house: This was my first time visiting and seeing the renovated house in person. I was very happy and impressed.
Q. What advice would you give to Thais living abroad?
A. This project is excellent for Thais living abroad because it opens opportunities for those who don’t have time to return home (some people find it inconvenient to stay for months at a time to handle the home purchase process).
It also addresses the needs of those who don’t want to tie up a large sum of money in a single home purchase, allowing them to invest in other things. Therefore, I would recommend this project to all Thais living abroad.
